Technical Questions

How do I get my Discord token?

Warning: Your token is like a password. Never share it with anyone.

To get your token:

  1. Open Discord in your browser
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+I (Windows) or Cmd+Option+I (Mac)
  3. Go to the "Console" tab
  4. Type: localStorage.token and press Enter
  5. Copy the value (remove any quotes)

How do I find Server IDs?

Method 1 (Developer Mode):

  1. Open Discord Settings
  2. Go to "Advanced"
  3. Enable "Developer Mode"
  4. Right-click on any server → "Copy ID"
Method 2 (URL):
The URL when you're in a server looks like: https://discord.com/channels/1432789126373183563
The long number is the Server ID.

What are the rate limits?

Discord has strict rate limits. DiscordCloner ʙʏ ɴᴇᴛᴛᴜautomatically handles these by:

  • Adding delays between requests
  • Implementing retry logic
  • Processing operations in batches
For large servers, cloning may take several minutes to avoid hitting rate limits.

Does it clone messages or member data?

No. DiscordCloner ʙʏ ɴᴇᴛᴛᴜonly clones the server structure:

  • ✅ Channels and categories
  • ✅ Roles and permissions
  • ✅ Server settings
  • ❌ Messages and chat history
  • ❌ Member lists or user data
  • ❌ Bots and their settings
  • ❌ Webhooks (unless enabled in advanced options)

Troubleshooting

My token is not working!

Common issues:

1. Invalid token format:

  • Remove any quotes (") around the token
  • Ensure no extra spaces at beginning or end
  • Token should look like: NDQ5NzQ4MjI0MDAwNjg2MDU4.DefWAA.abcdef123456
2. Token expired:
  • Tokens can expire or be revoked
  • Get a new token from Discord
  • Change your password to invalidate old tokens
3. Use the "Validate Token" button first to check if your token is working.

Cloning stops or fails mid-process

This can happen due to:

Rate limiting:

  • Discord has temporarily blocked your requests
  • Wait 5-10 minutes and try again
  • Use shorter delays in advanced options
Permission issues:
  • Check you have "Manage Server" permission
  • Verify both server IDs are correct
  • Ensure you're not trying to clone to a server you don't own
Server size:
  • Very large servers (100+ channels/roles) may time out
  • Try cloning in sections
  • Check the logs for specific error messages

Error: "Cannot access source server"

This usually means:

  • The source server ID is incorrect
  • You don't have access to that server
  • The server no longer exists
  • Your token doesn't have permission to view that server

Solution:
  1. Double-check the server ID
  2. Make sure you're a member of that server
  3. Verify your token is working with "Validate Token"

Permissions aren't cloning correctly

Permission issues can occur when:

Missing @everyone role:

  • Some permissions reference the @everyone role
  • Ensure this role exists in both servers
Custom emoji permissions:
  • Emoji permissions are not cloned
  • You'll need to set these manually
Bot-specific permissions:
  • Bot permissions are tied to the bot application
  • These cannot be cloned to another bot
Solution: Check the "Clone Permissions" option in advanced settings.
